Caesar aka Barfii
Caesar Shankar Mohapatra (Born 4th July 2013- Passed 28th October 2022)
He came home on the 28th October 2013 and passed away on the 28th October 2022. Exactly 9 years, almost to the T.
Ravi says he was our King Caesar, will a love for number 9. He had never been sick. He was in and out of hospital for exactly 9 days, from the 19th October to the 28th October. He was in pain for 9 hours, from 6.00 pm on the 27th evening till 3.00 am 28th morning before he passed.
We miss him in every conversation, silence and space. We, the three of us, Papa, Mumma and Bhaiya go through stages of grief in no particular order. Everything in our lives revolved around him and even now he rules our thoughts. I hope this ache will dull at some point. I know it will. But Caezii, you were our special child and you will always be in our hearts, forever.
You were never a "normal" lab. You were super hyper, super energetic, with that shine in your eyes that I haven't seen anywhere else. Always curious, always fearless. When other dogs hid under the beds with the diwali cracker noise, you sought out the light and barked the sounds away - telling them there you were unafraid.
I know what extreme pain you were in in your last moments , but you didnt even cry once. My bravest boy. My brightest star.
I hope you are running around the heaven, chasing the birds and butterflies. I hope you are cuddling with your favourite pillow, and you have the warmest hug from all around.
My child, you were loved deeply. And you loved us deeper still. I miss your ears, I miss your eyes. I miss you in many many ways. Thank you for showing us what love meant. What kindness meant. Thank you for coming into our lives.
When I am in a better frame of mind, I will write about you and your pillow, the songs you sang, and everything you did with us. Some day for sure.
As of now, I have this vision of you. My recklessly handsome child, now with shiny angel wings, flying through with your sunglasses , watching over us and doing your favourite things.
